The ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) as the name indicates, is the national oil company of Abu Dhabi and one of the largest oil companies in the world. It was established in 1971 to operate in all areas of UAE’s Oil & Gas industry and is headquartered in Abu Dhabi. In terms of numbers as of today, UAE holds the seventh-largest proven reserves of oil in the world at 97.8 billion barrels, all mostly located in Abu Dhabi. ADNOC is the world’s 12th largest oil company by production, producing 3.1 million barrels per day. Many businessmen across the globe are keen to utilize the opportunities awarded by ADNOC time and again.
ADNOC has introduced a mandatory registration procedure for the suppliers to check their eligibility. Cooperation with ADNOC is impossible unless the registration is complete. SPC approval, a pre-requisite for ADNOC registration. Moreover, the registration is possible for the Abu Dhabi-based companies only and the company should have an Emirati partner with the passport issued in Abu Dhabi. On the other hand, not all the local partners are acknowledged by ADNOC but only those who have Onshore LLC, with a 51% SPC approved local partner, or a Foreign Branch with an SPC approved National Service Agent (NSA) are approved.
Of late, SPC approval is also being awarded to companies formed at the various free zones of Abu Dhabi. However, the approvals for Abu Dhabi’s free zone-based companies are decided by SPC on case to case basis.
While vendors and Contracting companies must have their license issued from Abu Dhabi to be eligible for ADNOC registration, Manufacturers from across UAE are eligible to be registered. Even Overseas manufacturers who wish to supply products to ADNOC can do so by having a tie-up with the relevant Vendor company in Abu Dhabi.
